This concern has been raised by the examiner. As a result this piece of work has been forwarded to the School Investigating Officer to examine your work. Information about what constitutes academic misconduct and full information about the procedures and penalties can be found in the Examination and Assessment Handbook for Undergraduates OR the Examination and Assessment Handbook for Postgraduates (delete as applicable). This information is also published at the following web link: HYPERLINK "http://www.sussex.ac.uk/academicoffice/1-4-1-4.html" http://www.sussex.ac.uk/academicoffice/1-4-1-4.html You can also view information related to plagiarism at: HYPERLINK "http://www.sussex.ac.uk/academicoffice/plagiarism" http://www.sussex.ac.uk/academicoffice/plagiarism This is the first stage of the academic misconduct process. EITHER: The Investigating Officer has determined this to be a minor case of academic misconduct. Your work will be referred to the Head of School (or nominee) who will decide what action will be taken with regards to this matter. OR: As it appears that your work may involve major academic misconduct, it will be considered in full by an Academic Misconduct Panel. Your work has been passed to the Student Progress and Assessment Office which will arrange a hearing in due course. You will be contacted by letter and email - to the contact addresses that you have supplied to the 鶹ý - to inform you of the date, time and location of the hearing. You should note that it can take some time to organise such a hearing; if you are worried that you have not been contacted, you can contact the Student Progress and Assessment Office directly to find out more. The letter will include information about what will happen and what you need to do at that point. An Academic Misconduct Panel consists of two members of academic staff and an Officer of the Students Union (not the Education Officer). The course convenor or the examiner will present the case to the Panel. You will be able to present evidence - either in person or by a written statement - about your case. You are entitled to attend the hearing to present your case to the panel, and you are encouraged to do so, but you are not required to do so. If you do choose to attend the hearing you can be accompanied by one of the following people to help you present your evidence: Academic Advisor; a member of academic faculty; an officer of the Students Union. You can also choose the person accompanying you to be your Student Advisor, however, a Student Advisor would normally only act in a situation where your defence depends on the presentation of mitigating circumstances. Once the Panel has heard all of the evidence it will meet in private to discuss the case. The Panel will decide if academic misconduct has occurred and if so what the penalty will be. If you attend the hearing, you will be invited back into the room to meet with the Panel who will inform you of their decision. A formal letter will be sent to you outlining the Panels decision and, if appropriate, the penalty. Your Examination Board will also be contacted and any penalty imposed will be implemented when determining your << end of year marks / degree classification >>. Information about the case will also be recorded on your student record. At this stage, you are strongly advised to contact your Academic Advisor to seek advice and support with regards to this case. Your Academic Advisor will be able to help you by answering any queries/concerns that you have. You may also seek advice from a Student Advisor. In addition the Students Union Education Officer, Josh Jones, can offer you support and advice on the academic misconduct processes. Josh can be contacted by email at HYPERLINK "mailto:education@ussu.sussex.ac.uk" education@ussu.sussex.ac.uk or by phone on (01273) 87 3324. If you have any queries about this case you are strongly advised to contact your Academic Advisor or the Students Union Education Officer.
