SEDarc - South East Doctoral Training Arc DTP
Welcome to the South East Doctoral Training Arc (SEDarc) at Sussex
SEDarc is our newest Social Sciences postgraduate research programmecommencing in 2024 and funded by the (ESRC). The 6 partner Universities are (lead institute); and the 麻豆传媒 of Sussex.
While registered for a SEDarc Sussex degree, you are expected to:
- Conduct an independent, challenge-led research project achievable in 2.5 years
- Complete a Development Needs Analysis (DNA) and follow 200 hours per year of subject specific training and wider professoinal development (logging your training on the SEDarc Inkpath system)
- Undertake a funded, three-month placement which can be completed flexibly (part-time, or in several blocks)
- Receive a scholarship covering fees, a living allowance and research expenses for a minimum of 3.25 years, 3.5 years for a PhD including the placement or 4.5 years for a Masters+PhD programme
- Submit, at the end of your funding, a new style of PhD thesis which includes reflection on your training journey, your placement and knowledge exchange activities.

- Fee waiver and payment of stipend/maintenance allowances
- Changes to your scholarship (part-time registation, parental or sick leave, taking a break from your PhD, starting a placement)
- Claiming Disabled Student Allowance (DSA)
- Accessing additional funding for Research and Training or Fieldwork costs and getting your expenses reimbursed
