Parking enforcement

To appeal a Parking Charge Notice, please follow the instructions on the ticket itself.

The Transport Office cannot cancel PCNs.

If you have any questions about parking enforcement on campus, please contact the Transport Office at transport@sef.fm.

Drivers must obey the Â鶹´«Ã½ traffic and parking regulations for motor vehicles.

Sussex Estates and Facilities (SEF) and the Â鶹´«Ã½ of Sussex work in partnership with First Parking, who are an approved parking operator and a registered member of the British Parking Authority and authorised to impose Parking Charge Notices (PCNs). First Parking can obtain details of car ownership from the DVLA.

To avoid a Parking Charge Notice, drivers should:

  • Always park in a designated bay;
  • Have a valid paperless parking permit and have paid their annual or daily parking charge: or
  • Pay for visitor parking.

The cost of a Parking Charge Notice is £60. This will be reduced to £30 if paid within 14 days.

Drivers who park on double yellow lines, in a disabled bay without a Blue Badge, or on hatched areas will receive an immediate fine, as they are blocking the way for emergency vehicles and potentially causing serious issues for disabled drivers.

Any motorbikes that are not in a designated motorcycle parking bay will receive a fine.

Appealing a PCN

Once a Parking Charge Notice (PCN) has been issued, the recipient has 14 days to pay the reduced rate.

If you appeal within the first 14 days and the appeal is subsequently rejected, you then have an additional 14 days to pay the reduced rate from the day the rejection notice is sent.

If you appeal after the first 14 days however, and the appeal is rejected, the full parking charge amount (£60) will be due.

Parking in the local area

Do not park in Falmer village, Coldean, or Stanmer Park (where the car parks are for park users only). These areas are subject to parking enforcement by the local authority and are not for members of the campus community.
