Student Voice practitioners’ network

The Student Voice practitioners’ brings together Higher Education professionals in areas such as student experience and widening participation. It offers a platform for knowledge sharing, support and participation in events designed to enhance the student voice.

About the network

We believe that the student voice is an essential part of a student’s experience at university, so we created the Student Voice practitioners’ network where colleagues from across the sector can come together to gain support and knowledge in an informal, dynamic and agile way.

The network was founded by colleagues at the Â鶹´«Ã½ of Sussex and the Â鶹´«Ã½ of East London, and has now grown to include representatives from over 30 different Higher Education organisations.

It is a space to connect with professional peers to discuss common challenges, showcase good practice, troubleshoot and work in partnership with one another. Members range from those working in student experience and widening participation, to those focused on quality and evaluation.

The group aims to meet four times a year, with agendas being suggested by members in a collaborative approach. We've covered topics including:

  • student voice principles
  • methods to engage student voice
  • responding to NSS results
  • the role of student voice in a changing landscape.

Student Voice conference

We hosted our first Student Voice conference, taking place at the Â鶹´«Ã½ of Sussex on Wednesday 8 May 2024.

This was an opportunity to bring together network members and talk through common goals and challenges. We also ran a session on designing a student voice intervention, which colleagues can use at their own institutions.
