Feminist Approaches on Global Development, Resistance and Transformation (001ID7)
30 credits, Level 7 (Masters)
Autumn teaching
This module aims to provide an overview of what it means to be a feminist, and how feminism can help you better understand global development. We will do this by learning about different feminist approaches and applying them to a variety of development issues.
We will achieve this by:
- analysing how development is traditionally understood and the dominant discourses of development
- analysing the problems with these discourses
- looking at how these discourses are being challenged by feminist approaches
- considering whether, and how, these approaches can be used in (more) transformative ways.
