Autumn teaching

By the end of the module you will have gained knowledge and skills in the fundamental theories, theorists, principles, strategies and techniques which will prepare them to undertake further training in translating theory into practice with regard to CBT assessment and practice.

Throughout the module, you will gain a detailed understanding on the fundamental theories, thoerists, principles, strategies and techniques used in CBT to treat people with a variety of common mental health problems and complex difficulties. Sessions will include thoeretical teaching which will provide students with an overview of the topic area.

Knowledge and skills will then be grounded and consolidated through individual and small group excercises, modelling and rehearsal using case examples in some of the clincal skills based sessions.

You will be encouraged to take part in practical and explorative exercises to start to reflect on your own psychological development, and how the theories and fundamental skills of CBT might be used to help you to deepen your understanding of the development of common mental health problems and more complex difficulties

Contact hours and workload

This module is approximately 300 hours of work. This breaks down into about 72 hours of contact time and about 228 hours of independent study. The Â鶹´«Ã½ may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2024/25. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.
