There is a growing importance of Big Data in informing Clinical Psychology and mental health research and practice.
Big Data refers to datasets which are large or complex, and can be interrogated to identify patterns, trends or associations over time. It arises from a wealth of sources, including existing research data and open access datasets, medical records, and digital technologies.
This module will provide insight into Big Data in the context of Clinical Psychology, particularly how it innovates research and clinical practice. You’ll explore approaches to searching, synthesising and analysing Big Data.

Contact hours and workload
This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 22 hours of contact time and about 128 hours of independent study. The Â鶹´«Ã½ may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2024/25. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.
