Autumn teaching
You’ll look at nanomaterials and surfaces, describing techniques to synthesise nanomaterials and analyse surface structure in detail.
The first part of the module explores various techniques used to analyse surfaces in order to obtain information about the surface structure, as well as the structure of any adsorbate on the surface. You will focus on the use of techniques to determine surface and adsorbate structure, energetics and vibrational and electronic spectroscopy.
The second part of the module explores the latest advances in experimental approaches to nanomaterials. It is based on recent developments in the subject, combining lectures and workshops, research talks, directed and independent reading and a critical work.

Contact hours and workload
This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 32 hours of contact time and about 118 hours of independent study. The Â鶹´«Ã½ may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
